PURPOSE:To obtain a gas laser oscillator having a stable laser oscillating output, by providing a path for passing refrigerant, which cools the electron emitting surface of a discharge electrode, in the vicinity of the electron emitting surface, and suppressing the oxidation of the discharge electrode. CONSTITUTION:Laser medium gas passes an electron emitting surface 2 and flows into a glass tube 4. A heat conductor 5 having a thickness of (x) is provided between the electron emitting surface 2 and refrigerant 1. The electron emitting surface 2 is cooled through the heat conductor 5. As the refrigerant, water, oil and the like are used. Liquid refrigerant is easy to use and its cooling efficiency is high. When the thickness (x) becomes 2 mm or more, the cooling efficiency is strikingly decreased, oxidizing reaction is yielded and the laser output is decreased. Therefore, it is desirable that the thickness (x) be less than 2 mm. |
