PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retardant compsn. having excellent stability in processing, mechanical properties and resistance to heat and solvents, by blending a polyphenylene ether with a rubbery material, a specified condensed high- molecular material and red phosphorus. CONSTITUTION:A compsn. is obtd. by blending 100pts.wt. in total of 70-30wt% polyphenylene ether (A) and 30-70wt% polyamide (B) with 3-30pts.wt. rubbery material (C), 0.1-10pts.wt. condensed high-molecular material (D) of epichlorohydrin with a compd. having a carbon-to-carbon unsaturated bond and at least one group selected from the group consisting of carboxyl, acid anhydride, acid amide and hydroxyl groups and/or a compd. having an oxirane ring per molecule and/or a dihydric phenol or alcohol, and 0.3-10pts.wt. red phosphorus (D). Commercially available red phosphorus may be used as such, and also stabilized red phosphorus obtd. by coating the surface thereof with a thermosetting resin, etc., may be used. |
