The method involves examining the input signals for existence and/or plausibility of and error. A failsafe program is activated with determination of an error in a signal. The function of the failsafe program is monitored. An error controlling measure is introduced in the function of the failsafe program with determination of error. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring the operation of a system.
