Prevention of corrosion by refined fuels

Refined fuels are treated to reduce corrosion of petrol storage tanks, by addn. of 50-500 ppm. of a mixt. contg. at least one amino cpd. e.g. ethanolamine, diethanolamine or n-butylamine, dissolved in a 1-5C alkanol and stirring to ensure intimate mixing is obtd. in half the reaction time of 1-8 hrs.
