Hydraulic support leg and control system for transport container - lifts container clear of flatbed lorry or trailer, using pistons operated by hydraulic pump

When the lorry which carries the container reaches an appropriate parking space, the clamping devices are released and a common hydraulic supply is fed to four identical jacking legs, one at each corner of the container. The jack feet descend until they reach the ground and then raise the container clear of the flat bed of the lorry. The hydraulic supply is then disconnected and the lorry is driven away. Each leg has an outer telescopic tube attached to a corner of the container. A hydraulic cylinder (4) is fixed inside the top of the tube. Inside the cylinder is a double-action piston connected by a shaft (8) to the foot of the support. The piston is moved up or down by applying hydraulic pressure to ports (9,10) above or below the piston. Sensing devices ensure that the container is level, even on uneven ground.
