<p>In the case of an alternating-current network (grid) having an inductive transmission line, a series capacitor for compensation, and a generator having a drive shaft, a superconductor coil, through which direct current flows, is connected via a converter to the transmission line, between the series capacitor and the generator, in order to produce torques which damp torsion, as an electrical means for damping the torsional oscillations of the drive shaft.
