The invention relates to a method for deciding whether a mobile object has been taken through a goal comprising a goal area defined by said goal, an inner magnetic field being measurable inside said goal area or parallel to said goal area and being larger than an outer magnetic field that extends outside the goal area. The method according to the invention comprises the steps of producing an inner magnetic field inside the goal, supplying information on a magnetic field the mobile object is subject to and evaluating the information on the magnetic field to give a goal statement based on the detection that the mobile object has passed the inner magnetic field.
