PURPOSE:To obtain a semiconductor light emitting device which can provide an output optical beam from a semiconductor light emitting element as a higher output optical beam in a simple structure by condensing the optical output beam from both light emitting end faces of a semiconductor light emitting unit to be coupled with two optical fibers, and integrating them. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor light emitting element 1, two focusing rod lenses 2, 3 for condensing the optical output beam from both light emitting end faces of the element 1, two optical fibers 5, 7 coupled with the condensed optical output beam, and an optical fiber 10 integrated by melting the fibers 5, 7 are provided. For example, the fibers 5, 7 are so fusion-bonded by an optical coupler 9 that cores coincide, and so provided that the optical length from the first light emitting end face 11 of the element 1 to the coupler 9 coincides with that from the second light emitting end face 12 to the coupler 9. The optical beam incident to the fiber 5 and the optical beam incident to the fiber 7 are coupled by the coupler 9, and propagated by the optical beam 10. |
