The aerial signal passes through a filter (2) prior to reaching the detector (3) for detection of the variations in voltage wave forms. A clock generator (5) is connected to the detector to measure the time at which a predetermined point in the voltage wave form occurs, and then emit a corresp. time signal. A wave form discriminator (7) is connected to the filter to identify the characteristics radiation field of the lighting strike, and emits a confirmatory signal. A transmitter (6) is activated by the simultaneous emission of time and confirmatory signals, and thus emits the time signal.
