Compounds of formula I, <IMAGE> [wherein A-NH2, and B-COOH each represent an optionally protected peptide (containing one or more amino acids) or, additionally, one but not both represents H2N-COOH or protected H2N-COOH; either R1 is hydroxy, alkoxy or acyloxy and R2 is H or R1 and R2 together are OXO; R is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, heteroaryl or heteroarylalkyl; R3 to R6 independently may be the same as R or additionally may be F or Cl, provided that at least one of R3 to B6 is F or Cl] or an isosteric form thereof, are useful as renin inhibitors in the prophylaxis or treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure. |
