<p>PURPOSE:To accurately grasp the working state of the filter of a molten metal filtering apparatus by placing a means of continuously detecting the pressure drop of the filter in the apparatus, detecting the pressure drop and comparing the curve of the pressure drop with the curve of normal pressure drop. CONSTITUTION:When molten metal is fed to a filter tank 1 from the feed hole 3, passed through a filter 2 and discharged from the discharge hole 5 through an isolated chamber 4, a nozzle 7 is fitted to a fixed position of the tank 1 and a means 6 of measuring the back pressure of gaseous Ar or the like blown into the molten metal from the nozzle 7 with a pressure gauge 8 is placed. The curve of the pressure drop of the filter from the beginning of filtration to the end shows a certain pattern in case of normal operation, so the conditions of the filter 2 can be accurately monitored by detecting the pattern of the pressure drop during the filtration of the molten metal.</p> |
