PURPOSE:To improve a constant area photoelectric transducer in its total release voltage and short-circuit current features and thereby improve its photoelectric conversion efficiency by a method wherein the photodetecting area of a semiconductor photodetector changes with the intensity of incident light. CONSTITUTION:On one and the same semiconductor substrate 3, serially connected diodes are organized into a plurality of photocells 4 constituting a photodiode array 2. The photocells 4 differ from each other in terms of their photodetecting areas according to the remoteness from a point light source 1. A photocell 4a positioned nearest to the point light source 1 is the smallest in area while a photocell 4b positioned remotest from the point light source 1 is the largest in area. The photocells 4 are serially connected to each other by wirings 5. |
