An apparatus and a method for verifying figure data are provided to set a size of figures removed from a region where figures having a predetermined angle are arranged and a size of figures removed from a region where figures having angles other than the predetermined angle are arranged independently, thereby verifying a conversion error with high accuracy. An apparatus(200) for verifying figure data includes a first divider(112), a second divider(114), a first computing unit(122), a second computing unit(124), a first removal unit(132), and a second removal unit(134). The first divider receives design data(10) and divides figures included in the design data into figures having angles corresponding to integer multiples of 45 degrees and figures having angles other than the angles corresponding to integer multiples of 45 degrees. The second divider receives drawing data(12) converted from the design data and divides figures included in the drawing data into first figures corresponding to the figures having the angles other than the angles corresponding to integer multiples of 45 degrees and second figures corresponding to the figures having the angles corresponding to integer multiples of 45 degrees. The first computing unit performs an exclusive OR operation on data of the figures having the angles other than the angles corresponding to integer multiples of 45 degrees and data of the first figures. The second computing unit performs an exclusive OR operation on data of the figures having the angles corresponding to integer multiples of 45 degrees and data of the second figures. The first removal unit removes figures having sizes smaller than a first allowance error from figures derived from the operation result of the first computing unit. The second removal unit removes figures having sizes smaller than a second allowance error from figures derived from the operation result of the second computing unit.
