Device for converting the reciprocating vertical movement of a combustion engine directly onto a horizontal rotation spindle. It consists of a hoop carrying, on the outside, a running tread on which there bears the small end of the connecting rod. Since the axis of this hoop has been offset outwards, the running tread effects an ovalised path and the connecting rod small end never meets the axis of the said hoop. With this purely mechanical process reduced bulk and better efficiency are obtained for the engine.
