<p>A jack hammer with a pneumatic percussion tool that can be switched off by externally actuating holding elements (15, 15') via switching means (27, 30, 37, 27', 30', 37'). The holding elements (15, 15') can hold the striker (6, 6') with hook-shaped extensions (25, 25'). The switching-off device can also be used as an idle running control if the striking pin (12, 12') or another corresponding movable part of the percussion tool (2) is shaped accordingly.
