PURPOSE:To enhance catalytic activity and to extend service life, by molding a jar-shaped catalyst carrier consisting of one or more kind of allophane, red mud and bauxite and having an average particle size of 30-200mum and an abrasion index of 10 or less. CONSTITUTION:A water is added to 60-80pts.wt. of one or more kind of components selected from allophane, red mud, bauxite and laterite and 20-40pts. wt. of a binder to prepare a slurry mixture with solid concn. of 10-30wt%. Subsequently, the slurry mixture is subjected to wet grinding so as to have an average particle size of 0.6-2.0mum, and spray-dried and baked to prepare a jar-shaped catalyst carrier having an average particle size of 30-200mum and an abrasion index of 10 or less. As the binder used at the time of the preparation of the aforementioned slurry, a hydrated oxide gel or sol and an adhesive are used. |
