Exhaust turbochargers with compressor and turbine are stressed by particulate combustion residues in the exhaust gas and may be damaged, the particulate material also being deposited in the supercharger and reducing its efficiency. According to the invention, the spiral duct (100) of the turbine (104) has a recess (106, 206, 306, 406) in its wall, the opening of which recess faces the gas flow. The solid particles have the tendency to emerge tangentially from the spirally ducted exhaust gas flow and to be deposited in the recess (106, 206, 306, 406).
