PURPOSE:To reduce the danger of ignition at the mixing time of a catalyst and a solvent, by preliminarily adding a small amount of water to the catalyst to wet the same and adding a water-soluble org. solvent to the wetted catalyst to mix and disperse the solvent. CONSTITUTION:After water is preliminarily added to a catalyst to wet the same, a water-soluble org. solvent is added to and mixed with the wetted catalyst to obtain a dispersion. For example, 100-200g of water containing 0.5-5% of a surfactant is added to and mixed with 100g of a carbon powder (catalyst) supporting fine particles of platinum in a ratio of 10%. Next, 300-700g of ethylene glycol is added to the dispersion to be quickly and uniformly mixed therewith and subsequently dispersed by a roll mill dispersing machine to obtain an ethylene glycol dispersed paste of a platinum/carbon powder. By this method, the danger of ignition can be reduced to 1/3-1/5. |
