In a training device for developing and strengthening the muscles and joints of a person by means of back and forth movements under load, the latter is produced by a reversible electric motor (20) which can be braked beyond the stationary position, the terminal voltage of which can be continuously increased by a driving device (60) and the output moment of which can be transformed by a reducing gear (28, 30) into a linear force that puts under pressure the person performing the exercises. The motor (20) is suitably a direct-current motor with constant-speed characteristics and has a stator with permanent magnetic poles. This training apparatus allows the load to be easily adapted to the person doing the exercises and to the exercise being done, if necessary by preprogramming. |
