So that a sailboard rig can be reefed or unreefed without much effort within a few seconds while windsurfing, and still has good aerodynamic properties, the sail (18) is fastened to a mast which can slide transversely to its length within an aerodynamic fairing (11), and is integrated in an endless loop with the sail (18) and a reef line. The rig is reefed by pulling on the reef line at a point the windsurfer can reach easily. When this happens, the mast slides towards the front of the fairing (11), pulling part of the sail (18) into the fairing (11). The rig is unreefed by pulling on the reef line in the opposite direction, causing the mast to slide towards the rear of the fairing (11), and exposing the previously reefed part of the sail (18) to the wind again. <IMAGE>
