The hammer drill has a percussion mechanism (1) capable of being switched on and off. To switch the percussion mechanism (1) on and off, use is made of a coupling member, in the form of a wrap spring (21), between a driving wheel (14) set in rotation by motor and a driven shaft (7) leading to the percussion mechanism (1).
