In a reluctance motor having a stator which has a plurality of pole surface pairs and having a rotor which moves through the air gap spaces of said stator and comprises a number of magnetically conductive elements, the magnetically conductive elements have a thickness which corresponds approximately to half the thickness of the air gap spaces. The magnetically conductive elements may consist of laminated cores having a relatively low iron filling factor.
