PURPOSE:To obtain an electrical contact material with high consumption resistance by mixing a powdered silver alloy contg. an alloying element in an unoxidized state with granular silver oxide, compression-molding the mixture, and sintering the molded body. CONSTITUTION:A powdered silver alloy contg. an alloying element in an unoxidized state such as Ag-W, Ag-Cd, Ag-Sn or Ag-Bi is mixed with granular silver oxide. The mixture is compression-molded to form a molded body of high density, and the molded body is sintered at 400-450 deg.C. The silver oxide is decomposed at the temp. to release oxygen, and this oxygen oxidizes the alloying element contained in the molded body, producing the oxide of the alloying element. An electrical contact material with high consumption resistance is obtd. |
