The device comprises a detector (1) and a reference source (2) on the input side of the detector (1). The reference source delivers standard radiation whose spectrum lies outside the spectrum of the ionizing radiation to be detected. A discriminator (3) analyses both the amplitude and energy of the ionizing radiation received. A unit (4) makes it possible to adjust the relative position of the amplitude levels (Ci) of the amplitude scale and of the amplitude of the pulses created by the standard radiation.
