PURPOSE:To prevent the head efficiency from being degraded too much by shifting a track position of a recording inductive head and that of a reproducing MR head from each other in the track breadthwise direction. CONSTITUTION:With respect to a composite thin film magnetic head 14, a track position 14a of the recording inductive head, a track position 14b of the reproducing MR head, a track width Tw1 of the recording inductive head, a track width Tw2 of the reproducing MR head, and optional tracks Tn1 and Tn2 are shown in Fig. The recording inductive head and the reproducing MR head are so combined that track positions 14a and 14b of respective heads are shifted slightly from each other in the track breadthwise direction, thus contituting the thin film magnetic head. |
