PURPOSE:To contrive to enhance heat sensitivity, by a method wherein an undercoat layer consisting of a filler, a wax or waxy substance and a binder is provided on a base, a thermal color forming layer is provided thereon, and the surface of the color forming layer is adjusted to a specified surface roughness Rz. CONSTITUTION:A layer comprising a filler, a wax or waxy substance and a binder is provided as an undercoat layer for a thermal color forming layer. Then the thermal color forming layer is provided on the undercoat layer at normal temperature, and the surface of the color forming layer is calendered to adjust the surface roughness Rz thereof to or below 2 mum. Accordingly, a thermal recording material free of development of ground color and enhanced in heat sensitivity can be obtained. |
