Metallised films for dielectric capacitors are made by forming three overlapped layers on a dielectric film; a very thin layer of Ag, Cu or their alloys; a Zn layer; and an Al (alloy) layer contg. less than 1% Ti, Si or Cd. The films are deposited by vapour deposition from a melt at a pressure of about 0.0001 torr. A peripheral edge of the dielectric film is left uncovered. The Zn layer pref. has an uneven thickness and includes reinforced thicker areas; the Al (alloy) layer has a thickness 1/8 to 1/16 of the Zn layer. |
