The system uses a magnetic tape. A frequency-modulated luminance signal, chrominance signal in a frequency band beneath that of the luminance signal, and frequency modulated audio signal in the luminance signal's frequency band, are recorded on a video track. Two video heads record the luminance and chrominance signals and have gaps with azimuth angles in opposite inclination directions. Two audio heads have gaps with azimuth angles in opposite inclination directions and with different (preferably larger) valves than those of the video heads.
