PURPOSE:To evenly and uniformly cool hot rolled steel materials at a high speed by injecting cooling water from water injection nozzles of a cooler enclosing the steel materials at the injection rate or injection pressure varying in the circumferential direction of the steel materials. CONSTITUTION:The unit cooler consisting of an inside pipe 1 and outside pipe 2 of a water injection cooler for cooling the hot rolled steel materials 5 with water by enclosing the same is provided with plural stages of the cooling water injection nozzles 4 in series in the progressing direction of the steel materials 5. The nozzles 4 are concentrically disposed to the part where the space between the steel materials 5 and the inside pipe 1 is narrow or the nozzles 4 in said parts are formed to the sectional area larger than the nozzles in the other parts. The part where deficient cooling is caused by dip cooling, etc., is thus forcibly cooled by increasing the injection pressure or injection rate of the cooling water to said part, by which the uneven cooling on the outlet side of the cooling zone is prevented. |
