PURPOSE:To calculate the diameter of a wheel which varies owing to wear, etc., automatically in a stepless shape by installing a reflecting plate of specific length on the ground, detecting the reflecting plate from on a vehicle, and counting output pulses of a rotating speed generator during the period. CONSTITUTION:When the vehicle 101 equipped with a center monitor 5 passes on the reflecting plate 2 of length l0 installed on the ground during its run, a sensor 3 detects the plate 2 by using light 7, etc., and outputs its detection signal (A) to an arithmetic circuit 4. The circuit 4 counts the number P0 of pulses of the rotating speed generator 1 which outputs pulses (B) corresponding to the rotating speed of the wheel while the detection signal (A) is outputted to calculate and supply the wheel diameter (l0XN)/(piXP0) (N: number of teeth of generator 1) to a monitor 5. The monitor 5 calculates the vehicle speed, run distance, etc., based upon the wheel diameter. Further, when a slip/slide device 8 detects the idling or slide of the wheel, its detection output is supplied to the circuit 4 and the wheel diameter is not calculated during the period, so high-accuracy wheel diameter data is obtained. |
