PURPOSE:To provide a printing apparatus taking no labor in maintenance, having high degree of freedom in the selection of ink, suitable for color printing and capable of performing high speed printing, by forming each of electrodes of a shape memory alloy and providing an adjustment means individually altering the shapes of the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Each of the electrodes 17 of an electrode row 8 is made of a shape memory alloy and, in synchronous relation to the output from a control part 13, the current from a heating power source 22 is applied to the electrodes 17 by a current supply controller 21 to be instantaneously made to flow to said electrodes 17 through terminals 19, 20 and a spring 18 to heat the electrodes 17. Each of the electrodes 17 deforms from the state of a set configuration 17b to the state of a memory configuration 17a to be protruded in the direction of an electrode roll as compared with the other electrodes 17 to which no output voltage is applied. Therefore, ink certainly flies to the objective electrode 17 and trouble such that voltage is applied by the induction from an approach electrode and ink flies by erroneous operation can be prevented. |
