PURPOSE:To relax the complicatedness of calculation in secondary masking treatment and to obtain color reproducing accuracy equal to a conventional one, by a method wherein the integral densities of first, second and third dyes are calculated from original information and analytical densities are operated according to a masking equation and printing dyes are deposited on a medium to be recorded in quantities corresponding to said densities operated in the order of the first, second and third dyes. CONSTITUTION:An image forming apparatus, for example, a heat-sublimable type printer printing first, second and third dyes on a medium to be recorded in order to perform color reproduction is used to form color printed matter faithful to an original separately prepared. According to a masking equation represented by formula (1) [wherein (aij) is a predetermined masking matrix] having a masking matrix predetermined from integral densities D1, D2, D3 of first, second and third dyes calculated from original information, the respective analytical densities d1, d2, d3 of the first, second and third dyes are calculated by operation. Printing is performed in the quantities corresponding to the analytical densities to form an image. Since the analytical density of each dye is calculated, the number of members based on the integral densities of the original are reduced by three as compared with those of a conventional secondary masking equation. |
