NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R1 is H or formula II; R2 is H, formula II or III; R3 is H or formula II). USE:An active ingredient of antifouling paints having repelling property to sticking of aquatic organisms having low toxicity, high safety for industry and environment as well as strong antifouling effect. PREPARATION:An air-dried product of Pittosporum tobira Ait. (pittosporaceous plant) is, for example, extracted with methanol, etc., and the extracted liquid is concentrated. The resultant viscous liquid is concentrated with 1:1 benzene- ethyl acetate mixed liquid by using silica gel elution column chromatography and the eluted solution is then concentrated under reduced pressure and purified. The concentrate is repeatedly recrystallized. |
