Drying is carried out by means of a device comprising at least one leaktight enclosure 14 connected to a vacuum pump 24 via a suction pipe 14 in which an inlet filter 16 is interposed. The pump 24 delivers into a delivery pipe 28 in which an outlet filter 30 is interposed. The shoes are placed in the enclosure and a vacuum is progressively created from 30 to 80 millibars during a first drying stage, the duration of which is greater than 5 minutes, the vacuum being maintained for 20 to 30 minutes. <IMAGE>
