PURPOSE:To suppress the occurrence of dropout due to the sticking of dust or the like by erasing a track including the dropout in the even of dropout occurrence and re-recording the same video signal as the preceding video signal onto the erased track. CONSTITUTION:A dropout detection circuit 8 detects an envelope of a video signal V and it is discriminated as the presence of dropout when the envelope reaches a prescribed value or below or zero. When no dropout is detected by the dropout detection circuit 8, a magnetic head 5 recording a video signal moves to the next track and the next still picture is recorded magnetically onto said track. On the other hand, when the dropout detection circuit 8 detects a dropout, a control circuit 10 and an erase signal generating circuit 11 operate together, the track including the dropout is erased to record the video signal again on the erased track. |
