Membrane electrolysis cell

A cathode for a membrane electrolysis cell has been further developed in such a way that the cathode current is fed from the current distribution rails via comb-like strips directly to the webs of the tubular plates and is thus distributed substantially more uniformly over the cathode tubes. In addition to the uniform distribution of the current and the resultant energy saving, this also achieves the result that the outer side walls no longer have to be welded to the adjacent wall parts, but are designed as boltable and consequently easily detachable lid parts which no longer take any part in the current distribution. This makes an inspection possible, and stress cracks and corrosion are substantially eliminated.
