Device for making a selvedge formed by means of standing and crossing threads, especially in shuttleless weaving machines, consists of two healed frames which are arranged at a short distance one behind the other and are movable in opposition to one another and of which the first supports standing needles arranged in pairs for the standing threads and the second supports, for the crossing threads themselves guided in pairs, a control body having two control parts which are movable relative to one another and have oblique slots oriented crosswise and which are guided so as to be longitudinally displaceable by guide rails of the first healed frame and of which one, for its relative movement in relation to the other control part, is held drive-connected to the first healed frame. The guide rails of the first healed frame are formed by two parallel guide rods having a cross-sectional contour closed on itself, two control parts of the control body being provided with guide grooves profiled according to the guide-rod profile and engaging over the guide rods in a profile-matched manner. The drive connection of the one control part to the first healed frame is formed by a spring device fixed to the control part and tensioned against one of the guide rods.
