PURPOSE:To make it possible to apply the ultrasonic vibration for welding vertically to the surface of a matter to be welded, which locates in the interior of a deep box-shaped matter to be welded having a narrow opening, by a method wherein a tool horn consisting of specifically shaped horizontal bar and vertical bar, both of which are integrally formed into a cross intersecting at right angles each other, and a vibrator connected to an end of the horizontal bar are equipped. CONSTITUTION:A cruciform tool horn 1 consists of a horizontal bar 1a and a vertical bar 1c, both of which intersect at right angles each other. At the perpendicularly intersecting portion, the cross sectional area of the horizontal bar 1a in the direction of the vertical bar is made larger than that of the vertical bar 1c in the direction of the horizontal bar and, in addition, the output side projecting part 1e of the vertical bar 1c is made larger than the projecting part of the horizontal bar 1a so as to enhance the transformation ratio of the vertical bar 1c. Accordingly, the cruciform tool horn 1 obtains amplitude large enough for the welding of plastic at an output face 1d in the direction normal to an input face 1b. As a result, the ultrasonic vibration normal to the bottom surface of a box-shaped matter to be welded can be applied by inserting the horn in the interior of the box-shaped matter to be welded under the condition that a vibrator 5 is directly connected to the input face 1b and consequently sufficient strengths of both tensile strength and peel strength can be obtained in the welding of thick fibers, plastic films and the like, thus the realization of a stapler-type plastic ultrasonic welding set is made possible. |
