PURPOSE:To simplify a constitution as a whole, to increase a printing speed and to dispense with a dead space, by a method wherein a thermal head of each set is selectively subjected to driving control so that printing of a color graphic mode is performed at the time of one of the forward and backward movements of a carriage and printing of a black text mode is performed along with the former. CONSTITUTION:When a printing switch is turned ON, printing processing is performed in the order of a routine performing yellow printing, a routine performing magenta printing and a routine performing cyan printing. For example, when the yellow printing data corresponding to one line is inputted, a carriage moves to a start position and a thermal head 7 is contacted with a platen under pressure at the printing start position and printing is performed while a yellow ribbon is taken up in such a state that the yellow ribbon on the side of a color ribbon cassette 9 is pressed to recording paper. When the printing of one line is finished, the carriage is moved so as to again return to a left and position. When printing in a color graphic mode is finished, if there is black printing data, a thermal head 8 is contacted with the platen under pressure while the carriage is moved backward and printing is performed while a black ribbon is taken up. |
