In the case of a circuit arrangement for a coupling-brake drive for an industrial sewing machine, the coupling-brake drive comprising at least one coupling and braking disc which can be moved by means of the magnetic field of a braking coil into contact with a rotationally fixed braking opposing bearing and by means of a coupling coil in contact with a coupling opposing bearing which is connected to the output drive shaft of the drive, a resistance which is associated especially with the coupling coil being brought into effect via an electronic switching element when the current which excites the coil is switched off, in order to achieve rapid deexcitation of the coupling coil and thus high positioning accuracy with universal applicability of the respective control box containing the control circuit it is provided that a discharge resistor (9) is arranged such that it is connected in series with the coupling coil (8) and can be shorted out by an electronic switching element (transistor T1) which switches off when the coupling coil current is disconnected. <IMAGE>
