The invention relates to a coin-operated machine for the dispensing of piece goods, especially of newspapers, consisting essentially of a storage container for receiving the piece goods and of a coin-operated mechanism (10), furthermore with a locking mechanism (6) which is arranged at the lower end of the coin-operated mechanism (10) and which possesses a locking member (16) rotatably connected to a pull-out piece (4) movable in the horizontal direction, the locking member (16) having, in the region of the coin shaft (12), a recess (22) which is limited at the end by at least one upwardly bent finger (25) and which has, in the region of the recess (22), a coin bearing (26) located at approximately the same height at the finger (25), between which finger and which coin bearing the coin (27) to be tested is mounted, without touching the bottom of the recess (22). The coin bearing (26) is expediently formed by a round bar which is fastened in a suitable way, preferably soldered on or welded on, in the recess (22) of the locking member (16). Furthermore, there is arranged on a rail (61), on the outer wall (43) of the coin shafts (12), a slide (60) which is operatively connected to a finger (52) acting on the coin shaft (12) via a longitudinal groove (53), the slide (60) being designed so as to be lockable directly on the rail (61). <IMAGE>
