To stabilise the top soil layer and even to deposit humus and establish vegetation on bare rock faces or walls, tyres, e.g. used tyres originating from motor vehicles, are arranged horizontally or obliquely in a larger number and are anchored in the ground and linked to one another. Inlet plates provide for the supply of water into the interior of the tyres during rainfall or a thaw. Carried in by wind or water, leaves, small branches, earth and plant seeds settle in the chambers or pockets present in the interior of the tyres. The greening of the arrangement is effected in this way alone. But this can also be done manually in order to accelerate the process. <IMAGE>
