The invention relates to a gripping and mounting tool for a substantially U-shaped shaft-securing ring having two legs which resiliently encompass the shaft and are interconnected via a web. To provide a gripping and mounting tool which, even in confined spaces, permits particularly simple mounting of shaft-securing rings, the invention makes provision for the gripping and mounting tool to have a bar-shaped handle which runs in the mounting direction of the securing ring and is equipped, at one end, with a mouth which grips the web of the securing ring transversely to its extension plane, is constructed so as to spread the ring and can be actuated by an adjusting element arranged in the handle and capable of being operated from the outside.
