In a process for treating weathered ores containing pyrochlore from carbonate-type deposit, the recovered ore is first comminuted, ground down to a fineness suitable for digestion and, if appropriate after classification and purification by attrition and washing, elutriated, the natural fines fraction being separated off. The ground and elutriated ore is then sorted by a two-stage preflotation. Concentrating of the preconcentrate from the first preflotation stage is carried out by multi-stage purification flotation to give a flotation concentrate and by a postflotation of the preconcentrate from the second preflotation stage together with the tailing from the first stage of the purification flotation. The concentrate from the postflotation and the middle product from the purification flotation are recycled into the flotation circulation. According to the invention, secondary fines fractions from the tailings of the first purification flotation stage are separated off by an intermediate elutriation. In addition, a classification of the flotation concentrate is carried out at a separation cut of 10 to 20 mu m. The two part streams of the flotation concentrate are each treated by a postflotation of the concentrate.
