Telescopic profiled sail for propelling watercraft by utilising the wind energy in the form of a profiled wing which is fastened to the watercraft in a perpendicular position. The profiled wing is of telescopic design, as a result of which the effective sail area is increased by extension or reduced by retraction. In the retracted state, the profiled wing can be lowered by a lift into a silo, as a result of which it disappears entirely below the deck of the vessel. By lifting to deck level and locking the support frame to the deck construction, the profiled wing is made ready for use again and can be extended for sailing. The profiled wing is rotatably mounted on the support frame and can be rotated about a vertical axis and secured at any angle.
