Apparatus for placing a multi-piece arch support in an underground roadway driven in particular by a heading machine. The apparatus essentially consists of a working platform vertically adjustable via a lifting device and movable on a monorail conveyor rail, and a transport platform designed as a supporting frame, and also a manipulator linked to the rear end of the working platform. With regard to a technically simple and space-saving construction and to increase the safety of the crew and to reduce the manual activity, especially when handling heavy support parts, the transport platform (2), which can be covered with at least the support segments (3) required for one support arch, is arranged under the working platform (1), having a central slot (4) in the longitudinal direction of the roadway, and in such a way as to project towards the face. In this arrangement, the working platform (1) pivotable in the horizontal plane is designed in such a way that it can be lengthened on both sides of the slot (4) with a retractable and extendable section (5) covering the transport platform (2) in the extended position. Located in front of the working platform (1) is a portal-like support frame (23) which bridges the heading machine transversely to the longitudinal direction of the roadway, is movable in the longitudinal direction of the roadway, receives the support segments (3) and is designed as a support-seating device.
