PURPOSE:To prevent adverse effect due to alkali metal ions, by coating a hydrogen ion sensitive glass film with a siliconoxynitride membrane. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 1 is obtained by coating a hydrogen ion sensitive glass film 10 with a siliconoxynitride membrane 11. By this method, the siliconoxynitride membrane 11 effectively acts as a barrier layer preventing the contact of an alkali metal ion with the hydrogen ion sensitive glass film 10 and does not substantially obstruct the movement of hydrogen ions. Therefore, the electrode 1 receives no obstruction of the alkali metal ions even in a system wherein said alkali metal ions are present at high concn. and shows excellent hydrogen ion response and adverse effect due to alkali metal ions can be suppressed or prevented. |
