DRYING AND HEAT TREATING DEVICE MAKING USE OF INFRARED RADIATION

PURPOSE:To perform drying and heat treatment by making use of IR radiation by disposing radiation panels which are adjustable in surface temp. within a specific range to both sides of a passage in which an impregnated material passes. CONSTITUTION:A base material 1 such as glass cloth is passed through a thermosetting or thermoplastic resin 2 dissolved or dispersed in a combustible solvent and is thoroughly impregnated with said resin. The impregnated material 1' is put into a drying or heat treating chamber 8. The radiation panels 10 adjustable in the surface temp. from 100 to 700 deg.C are installed on both sides of the passage where the material 1' passes. The exhaust gas contg. the vapor of the combustible solvent discharged therefrom is completely burned by a combustion device 5 and the heat energy of the resulted high-temp. gas is fed through a flow rate damper 23 by a fan 16 into the panels 10 directly or through a heat exchanger 7. The surface temp. is regulated to 100-700 deg.C by controlling the temp. and flow rate therein. The heat is thus effectively utilized.
