PURPOSE:To obtain a thin titanium clad material and to simplify equipment by forming films of titanium and iron successively via a plasma jet on a base metal in a reduced pressure gaseous atmosphere then hot rolling the base metal. CONSTITUTION:A chamber 11 in which the reduced pressure inert or reducing gaseous atmosphere is maintained is provided. A tungsten electrode 1 and copper electrode 2 for forming the plasma jet 7 and tanks 5, 6 for supplying powders of the titanium and iron are respectively disposed. Working gases are supplied from gas supply pipes to form the plasma jet 7 and the powders of the titanium and iron are successively supplied from the tanks 5, 6 to form the titanium film 9 and the iron film 10 on the surface of the base metal8. The base metal is then hot rolled at about 750 deg.C, by which the thin titanium clad material is obtd. The thin titanium clad material is thus formed with the simple equipment. |
