Said signals X, Y are sent to an image collection memory 5 along with the unblank signal through a shift circuit 3 and an interface circuit 4 to be stored therein. Then, the center-of-gravity positions of a large number of images obtained in the memory 5 are calculated by CPU7 and deviations DELTAX, DELTAY are calculated from the average value of the center-of-gravity positions. After the measurement for calculating the time function of the deviations DELTAX, DELTAY is finished, the image is shifted with respect to the signals X, Y from the detector 2 in the circuit 3 and, at this time, moving quantity at each point of time is estimated and the image is shifted on the basis of the estimated moving quantity so that the center-of-gravity of the image always coincides.
